The Latest Pop Culture Icon to Glorify Satan in Song

Another major pop culture icon is glorifying Satan with music. Doja Cat’s “Paint the Town Red” shares about her ambition to be famous first and foremost above everything else. While the lyrics themselves are extremely vulgar, the music video takes it to the next level.

In the video, Doja Cat, shows herself painted in black wearing devil horns next to a man also painted to be like Satan as she cuts the umbilical cord to a developing demonic creature. The video is certainly not for children, or even for adults, and the lyrics themselves show the true colors of what power is at work in the song.

One part of the song says: “I’d rather be famous instead… I let all that get to my head.”

Does the Bible Prohibit Profanity?

Most Christians take for granted that profanity is sinful, but does the Bible actually address it? Back in 2013, I noted with concern that “it is increasingly common to hear about worship leaders getting drunk after church services and dropping f-bombs while they boast about their ‘liberty’ in the Lord.”

Now, my good friend, John Cooper, the frontman for the Christian rock band Skillet, has confronted the use of profanity in “Christian” music.

Cooper’s podcast was titled, “The Rot in Christian Music,” which, for him, was reflective of a larger spirit of compromise in the church that starts with leaders and works its way down through the body. And he referenced a recent article by Kevin McNeese titled, “What the Bleep Is Happening in Christian Music,” where McNeese “revisits the continuing trend of Christian artists including adult language and themes in their music.”

Why Won’t These 8 Christian Denominations Allow Women to Serve as Pastors?

Earlier this summer, the Southern Baptist Convention’s decision to disfellowship three churches that allowed women to serve as pastors sparked significant controversy. The one that garnered the greatest amount of attention was Saddleback, retired Pastor Rick Warren’s former church in California.

In June, the Southern Baptist Convention, at its annual meeting, voted to uphold its previous decision to remove Saddleback church from the denomination because of its appointment of female pastors, a stance and practice the SBC rejects.

The SBC is the largest Protestant denomination in the U.S. and Warren has been adamant in his stance opposing the SBC’s decision, as Charisma columnist Lee Grady reported. {eoa}
