Ohio St. Football Players Spark Revival: ‘Give Him the Glory’

The college football season got underway last weekend, and players at The Ohio State University have shown that God is moving on campus in an incredible way.

These young warriors of God put together a massive faith event on Sunday, Aug. 25, and received thousands of those hungry for the presence of God. Multiple local churches from the Columbus area were involved in getting the event off the ground and the Holy Spirit showed up in a powerful way.

As reported by The Lantern, “Senior running back TreVeyon Henderson, senior defensive end J.T. Tuimoloau, graduate wide received Emeka Egbuka, former Buckeyes wide receiver Kamryn Babb and more Ohio State football players helped lead the ceremony…”

The number of those in attendance varies, with some reports claiming 800-1,000 people, and others saying some 2,000 attended the spiritual awakening. No matter how many truly showed up, with eyewitness accounts, images and videos showing a substantial crowd, lives were transformed as prayer, testimonies, worship and baptisms invited the presence of God into their midst.

It is estimated between 50 and 80 people were baptized at the event, with many more being prayed for and worshipping in unity before the Lord.

“I just encourage you to step out in faith,” Babb said addressing the crowd. “Whatever you’re going through in life—whatever you’ve been through—I’m telling you there’s a God that desires you. So as we get into this worship, as we get into everything, we pray that you would see Him as He sees you. So as we get into this night, let’s give Him the glory.”

According to Tuimoloau, the Lord had put it on his and several other players’ hearts to host such an event, and to show the world how their Lord and Savior has impacted their lives on and off the field.

“It’s one of those visions that the boys had and that I was blessed to be a part off,” says Tuimoloau. “Just being able to allow people to understand that we are more than football players, and there’s more that goes into our [lives] than getting a sack or getting a touchdown or getting a great catch—just understanding that this is what it’s all about.

“I don’t think anything I accomplish on that field compares to what is happening right now,” he adds.

Egbuka revealed that this event was the result of years of prayer, faith and yearning for an opportunity to share the Gospel with their community, and show the world the power, love and salvation found in Jesus Christ.

“We were praying for years and years for an event like this, and we were praying with expectation—we serve a miracle-working God,” Egbuka says. “So we definitely had an expectation when it came out, but God did increasingly and abundantly more than what we thought. So, we’re just so blessed and thankful.”
