Oklahoma House Declares ‘Christ is King’ in New Legislation
In a clear affirmation of Oklahoma’s spiritual heritage, the Oklahoma House of Representatives passed House Concurrent Resolution 1013, proclaiming “Christ is King” during the Christian observance of Holy Week.
The resolution, championed by Rep. Jim Olsen, R-Roland, reaffirms the state’s foundation in faith and its longstanding cultural values rooted in Christianity.

Olsen emphasized the importance of aligning the resolution with Holy Week, a sacred time when millions of Christians reflect on the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
“This resolution is a bold testament to Oklahoma’s faith-based legacy,” Olsen said. “During Holy Week, we honor the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and reaffirm the principles that guide our state.”
By declaring “Christ is King,” Oklahoma’s leaders are standing against the tide of increasing secularism and reasserting the moral compass that has historically guided the state.
Olsen also invoked the language of the Declaration of Independence, calling on the “Supreme Judge of the World” as a reminder of the divine authority recognized by the nation’s founders.
The resolution is now in the hands of the Oklahoma Senate, where Sen. Shane Jett, R-Shawnee, is carrying the measure forward. Olsen expressed hope for swift action by the Senate, noting the significance of this statement not only for Oklahoma, but for all Americans who cherish the nation’s Christian foundation.
In an era where many states are moving away from public expressions of faith, Oklahoma is choosing to lead — boldly and unapologetically — by reminding its citizens and the rest of the country where its values originate.
