Outrage Explodes After California Lawmakers Side With Predators Over Kids
What we’re witnessing in California right now isn’t just political dysfunction—it’s moral collapse.
When lawmakers block legislation that would make the sex trafficking of minors a felony, something has gone deeply wrong with the soul of the state.
On Apr. 28, as reported by The Gateway Pundit, far-left Democrats in the California State Assembly blocked a bill that would have made the trafficking of minors a felony offense. The bill’s sponsor, Democrat Assembly member Maggy Krell, said, “It’s a disgrace.” And she’s right.

The bill, which would have covered minors aged 16 and 17, was yanked from the Public Safety Committee agenda. Krell told KCRA, “I was told that it was pulled, and the only way I could get it back on the agenda is if parts of the bill would be blocked.” In other words, protecting kids from sex traffickers was apparently too politically inconvenient for some.
Assemblyman Nick Shultz, chair of the Public Safety Committee, tried to spin it: “We’re not saying no, but what we’re saying is if we’re going to be thoughtful policymakers, we really need to dive deep into this issue.” But let’s be honest—there is no nuance when it comes to protecting children from predators. You’re either for it or against it.
This isn’t the first time California Democrats have tried to stall child-protection laws. In 2023, a bill introduced by Republican State Senator Shannon Grove to make child sex trafficking a “serious felony” was held up in the Assembly because Democrats didn’t like “boosting criminal penalties.”
Only after massive public outrage did they move forward—but only for children under 16.
Maggy Krell, to her credit, isn’t backing down. “I’ve been doing this for 20 years, and I’m not going to quit now,” she said. “I am going to bring this part of this bill back every year until I get the books to protect children. That’s what I’m going to do.”
Here’s the truth: this is a spiritual matter at its very core. If you’re siding with policies that protect sexual predators and leave minors vulnerable, you are not on the side of justice, you are not on the side of morality and you are certainly not on the side of God.

There’s no gray area here. Children must be protected. If we can’t come together on that, then we are not just a nation divided—we are a nation in grave danger.
