According to NBC News, the collision happened over the Potomac River near downtown. Passengers on the America Airlines flight included American figure skaters, their families and coaches, along with figure skaters and coaches from Russia.
While the cause of the crash has not yet been determined, Senator Mike Rounds (R) of South Dakota told Fox News that “What we’re seeing right now is what happens if you have a lack of communication or a misunderstanding.
“I’m sure there will be some second guessing, but I suspect…the chances are really good they’ll talk about a lack of communication between the aircraft,” he continues.
Pray for the families and friends who have lost loved ones in this horrifying crash, and that if there are any survivors they would be found.
