10-Year-Old’s Facebook Post Saves Father’s Life
A West Virginia girl is being hailed as a hero after using social media to save her father’s life.
On June 10, Gregory Vance and two of his friends were sitting on his front porch when a bolt of lightning struck a tree in front of his house, sending it crashing on top of them.
Seeing their predicament, Vance’s 10-year-old daughter Brianna tried to call for help only to discover the storm had knocked out both cell phone and landline service.
Turning to Facebook was all a desperate Brianna could think to do.
“My dad’s almost dead. He needs an ambulance please,” her post read.
Someone saw her emotional Facebook plea and called 911.
Rescue crews quickly arrived at Brianna’s home, saying her post helped save her father’s life.
“I was scared. I needed help. My dad needed help. So I had to post that,” she explained.
Brianna’s dad was hospitalized with a few broken bones, but he’s home now and was able to celebrate Father’s Day with his quick-thinking daughter.
Gregory Vance said he’s happy to be home to “just sit here in the house and be together and enjoy each other.”
