Arizona Governor Bans Critical Race Theory Training
According to Fox 10 Phoenix, the doctrine that “teach[es] students that any race, ethnic group or sex is superior to another, or that anyone should be discriminated against for those characteristics” is now banned in Arizona.
“[Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey] signed House Bill 2906 on Friday [July 9], which prevents government entities from requiring employees to undergo training that would suggest that they are ‘inherently racist, sexist or oppressive, whether consciously or unconsciously,'” according to a statement made by the governor, the source reports.
The source continued, “Critical race theory seeks to highlight how racist policies of the past manifest today. Critics say it pits races against each other and teaches white people that they are responsible for past injustices.”
Fox 10 Phoenix contined, “Breaking [Ducey’s new] law would result in a $5,000 fine.”
Another source reported that “[t]he move comes as parents around the country are beginning to speak out against teaching critical race theory to school-age children. Critical race theory is a doctrine that posits racism is still embedded in the American system and teaches people to see one another with a hyper-racial view.”
“Members of the Left and liberal media have continued to spread the message that critical race theory is simply the teaching of historical racism, claiming that those who oppose it are against teaching about the difficult parts of America’s past. In reality, critical race theorists are open about their desire to bring the past struggles into the present day”, the source said.
After the passage of SB1074 in May, Dr. Karlyn Borysenko, a known campaigner against critical race theory, said in a statement to National File, “There is no evidence that workplace training based on critical race theory results in better outcomes or increased diversity for the organization. Arizona did the right thing in banning the fringe ideology that does more harm than good from being taxpayer funded.”
A few weeks ago, after passing a law in Florida requiring high school students to learn about the evils of communist ideology, Gov. Ron DeSantis said in a press conference, “We have a number of people in Florida, particularly southern Florida, who’ve escaped totalitarian regimes [and] communist dictatorships to be able to come to America.”
He continued, “[W]hy would somebody flee across shark infested waters, say leaving Cuba …? Why would somebody leave a place like Vietnam? Why would people leave these countries and risk their life to be able to come here. It’s important students understand that.” {eoa}
