Beloved Pastor Shot While Placing Flags Outside Church for Memorial Day
A drive-by shooter shot a pastor who was placing flags outside his church to commemorate Memorial Day.
The Rev. Augustus Sealy was shot outside his Connecticut church early Sunday morning, according to the Hartford Courant.
Though the man was hospitalized, his wife, Sharon, says the incident has not impacted his faith in a negative way.
“He hasn’t lost any hope,” she tells NBC Connecticut. “You know, this is something that happened that was really terrible and shouldn’t have happened and we’ve already prayed for that person who actually committed the crime.”
Members of his church, Hartford First Church of the Nazarene, say the situation has forced a reversal of roles, of sorts. Normally, the pastor would be visiting them in the hospital, praying for their healing, and now it’s the opposite.
