The daughter of the late gospel singer Dottie Rambo, who died in a bus accident in May, has sued the driver and the company that leased the bus, claiming they are responsible for her mother’s death, the Associated Press reported.

Filed on Thursday in Nashville, Tenn., on behalf of Reba Rambo McGuire, the lawsuit names the bus driver, James Meadows; Nashville-based Pyramid Coach Inc., and DC Investments Leasing, a Mississippi-based subsidiary of Pyramid Coach. It asks for a jury trial and damages in excess of $25,000.

Dottie Rambo, 74, died May 11 when the bus she was in ran off the road in Missouri and struck an embankment. Seven others were injured in the accident.

According to the AP, the suit contends that Meadows was speeding and negligent and that the leasing company is liable for his negligence.

Rambo published more than 2,500 published songs, including classics such as “He Looked Beyond My Fault and Saw My Need” and “We Shall Behold Him.” Her songs have been recorded by artists such as Elvis Presley, Whitney Houston and Dolly Parton.
