Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale Names Fallen Pastor Bob Coy’s Replacement
When pastor Bob Coy admitted a moral failure and resigned as senior pastor from the church he founded, it not only rocked Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale (CCFL)—it also sent ripples through the South Florida Christian community.
Now Calvary Chapel is trying to move on.
The Fort Lauderdale church announced its succession plan in pastoral leadership during the church’s evening midweek service on Wednesday. In a unanimous decision, the church board and senior leadership team named pastor Doug Sauder as lead pastor. Sauder accepted.
“Pastor Doug Sauder has been a member of CCFL’s staff for the past 14 years, where he’s concurrently served in a variety of pastoral roles, including that of leading weekend and mid-week services as well as serving as the president of 4KIDS of South Florida,” the church said in a statement.
“Pastor Doug will lead, direct and schedule the teaching pastor team by continuing to use a rotation of teaching pastors for the weekend and mid-week services for their 10 campuses throughout Florida,” the statement continues. “Pastor Doug will also assume the presidency of the organization of CCFL and its regional campuses.”
You can read more about Sauder on the church’s website.
