Christian Bakery Owners Speak Out After Gay Backlash
The Christian bakers in Oregon who were targeted by gay activists are speaking out.
Aaron and Melissa Klein closed up their bakery, Sweet Cakes by Melissa, this weekend. They were under attack for refusing to create a wedding cake for a same-sex couple, but they are defending their faith and their decision.
The Kleins said they didn’t want to be a part of the marriage because they think it’s wrong.
During the past few months, the Kleins say the wedding part of their cake business suffered a 50 percent loss in revenue.
They say critics of their decision have been very militant, using mean-spirited, mafia-style tactics to shut them down.
But the couple is far from giving up or losing faith. Aaron said it’s hard to see all their hard work go belly up.
“But on the other hand, I have faith in the Lord and He’s taken care of us so far and I’m sure He will in the future,” he added.
The Kleins will continue to run their cake business from home.
