COVID-19 and the Consequences of Open Borders
“The city of Laredo, Texas, has refused to take in migrants who have been bussed in from elsewhere on the border after discovering 40% of them tested positive for the coronavirus, according to two local government officials,” Yahoo News reports.
“The 40% infection rate is the highest known positivity rate along the U.S.-Mexico border … Concerned that migrants arriving in Laredo would further strain hospital resources, Laredo officials contracted private bus companies to transport migrants arriving from the Rio Grande Valley to larger cities across the state,” the article says.
As vaccines are proving ineffective against mutations of the allegedly engineered virus, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a purpose statement on its website that included plans for isolating travelers to keep them safe from COVID-19. This announcement in July came months after the southern border was opened to numerous illegal immigrants who tested positive for the virus and were released into America’s general population.
According to the CDC, “U.S. Quarantine Stations are part of a comprehensive system that serves to limit the introduction and spread of contagious diseases in the United States … [Stations] are staffed with medical and public health officers .. .[who will] decide whether ill persons can enter the United States and what measures should be taken to prevent the spread of contagious diseases.”
Confidence in the CDC continues to wane as Americans receive conflicting messages on virus safety guidelines. “The [CDC] sparked outrage when, at the end of July, it recommended people wear masks indoors in areas with ‘substantial and high’ rates of COVID-19 transmission, including those fully vaccinated,” per MSN News. “The CDC seemed to be trying to boost confidence in COVID-19 vaccines when … it announced [in May] that those who had received the shots no longer had to wear masks in most situations.”
Leftist media refutes claims made by Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., that new COVID-19 spikes are due to the open southern border. CNN instead “point[s] to the more transmissible Delta variant and relatively low vaccination rates as primary causes of this latest wave.”
DeSantis said during a press conference, “Seventy percent of the people [we] have interdicted said their ultimate destination is the state of Florida. This is something that every time there’s a wave across that border, I’m not saying it’s 70% in every single part of the border, but for here, it’s the majority.”
Consequently, Texas and Florida are currently leading the Union in the most reported COVID-19 cases and deaths. {eoa}
