Focus on Family Targets Potty-Mouthed Programming
Tired of profanity on the boob tube?
Focus on the Family is expanding its work to help parents protect their kids in a media-driven world. The group has forged a partnership with TVGuardian that aims to offer squeaky clean entertainment choices for the family by filtering foul language from TVs and movies.
“Parents are continuously bombarded with media messages that are at odds with how they are raising their children,” says Rich Bennett, vice president of Focus on the Family’s Family Strategy Office. “Many are at a loss as to how to combat this as technology advances and objectionable entertainment content increases. TVGuardian is an essential resource in helping parents create positive, safe entertainment experiences that affirm their family values.”
In case you haven’t heard of TVGuardian, it’s a small unit that connects to television sets and automatically mutes all forms of profanity and inappropriate language from broadcast television, cable, satellite and DVDs. The idea is to let you watch TV shows and movies that you might enjoy—except for the bits of potty-mouth dialogue.
