FRC’s Gen. Boykin: ‘You Couldn’t Blow Me Out of Here’
Retired Army Gen. Jerry Boykin was at the Family Research Council this week when a gunman shot a man serving as security guard in the arm.
The former Delta Force commander ran downstairs and arrived in the lobby just as the suspect, Floyd Lee Corkins II, was subdued. He helped tend to the employee’s gunshot wound.
Boykin told CBN News by phone that the shooting has only strengthened his resolve to be on the front lines of the so-called culture wars.
“I tell you what, you couldn’t blow me out of here with a stick of dynamite now,” said Boykin, who now serves as FRC’s new vice president. “I am so determined that we are going to continue standing for biblical values, family values, freedom, faith.
“We are going to continue and I will be part of this,” he vowed. “And I must tell you I hope that this stimulates other Americans that have the same values to get involved in what’s going on in this country; to get in behind groups like the FRC.”
“We’re not going away,” he said. “We’re not going to back down. We’re not going to change or modify our positions. We’re going to stand firm in what we believe.”
