God Is Not Done With America, Election Results Prove
Pundits have been analyzing the meaning of last week’s election results, with conclusions ranging from dissatisfaction with the current administration to voter suppression. But religion and culture expert Dr. Alex McFarland, says that at their core, the results show one thing.
“Last week, we saw a sweep of victories across the nation for candidates who value the sanctity of life, value the sanctity of marriage and value religious freedom,” McFarland says. “The implication is clear: God is not finished with America. In recent years, we’ve seen vitriolic attacks on the biblical foundations of our nation, but from her founding through recent years, America has been the nation that, while far from perfect, has stood for truth and helped lead the way in spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ by sending missionaries around the world.”
McFarland says as we see the American people electing leaders who value God’s law, we see that God’s purpose has not expired. While this is encouraging, he says, it cannot be an excuse for complacency among Christians.
“This fight has only begun, and now is not the time to sit back and bask in electoral victory but the time to press forward and be on our knees before God like never before. We must be praying—now—for whomever our next president will be,” McFarland says. “We must be praying—now—that our leaders will have the courage to stand up for life, religious freedom and the sanctity of marriage. We must be praying—now—that our elected officials will not waver but will restore constitutional principles to our government rather than embrace the destructive ideologies of socialism and class, race and gender warfare that have become so widely propagated of late.
“God is not finished with America, but it’s now time for America to respond by saying that we do not imagine ourselves finished with God.”
