Kanye West to Perform at Joel Osteen’s Church This Sunday
Kanye West is reportedly planning to attend Joel Osteen’s church this Sunday—and his entire choir is coming along too.
West will show up at Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, for the 11 a.m. service and have an on-stage conversation with Osteen for 15 to 30 minutes. The topic of conversation will be how West has overcome adversity and how his life has radically changed.
“Joel is still putting his questions together, but he will talk about Kanye’s journey to his faith,” Lakewood representative Donald Iloff Jr. told the Houston Chronicle.
The service will be broadcast live on SiriusXM.
While West is not scheduled to perform at the 11 a.m. service, he and his choir plan to sing songs from West’s Jesus Is King album during the 7 p.m. service.
The plan to attend Lakewood sprang up last weekend when West went to Houston to perform at Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival, according to Iloff.
“Kanye and Joel are friends,” Iloff says. “He’s been wanting to come out for some time and it just worked out for this weekend.”
Osteen extended an invitation to West last month to attend one of his church’s services on Sunday. The megachurch pastor seemingly didn’t ask him to perform so as not to put him on the spot but would have been thrilled if West sang.
