Military Whistleblowers Expose Critical Race Theory Training
Critical race theory is sweeping through U.S. military training programs, multiple sources report. Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., reportedly “claimed that within the military, there’s ‘plummeting morale, growing mistrust between races and sexes where none existed just six months ago, and unexpected retirements and separations based on these trainings alone.'”
About six months ago, shortly after inauguration, Biden reversed former President Trump’s ban on military “diversity training.” The ban “target[ed] critical race theory, which teaches that racism pervades government and other American institutions, giving white people an advantage.” Several military branches resumed such training after Biden’s reversal of the executive order went into effect.
Cotton also “suggested claims [of] the military attempting to foster diversity with critical race theory training are incorrect.” He said, “[It’s] about a very specific kind of anti-American indoctrination that is seeping into some parts of our military, based on the whistleblower complaints we have received.” Cotton partnered with Texas Rep. and Navy veteran Dan Crenshaw to set up a whistleblower website that enables military members to anonymously report complaints of communist ideological training.
Critical race theory teaches that “the law and legal institutions in the United States are inherently racist insofar as they function to create and maintain social, economic, and political inequalities between whites and nonwhites, especially African Americans.” Tenets of theory are in direct violation of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which prohibits unlawful practices of discrimination based on race, color, and national origin in education, employment, public facilities and government assistance.
One source explained that “CRT … labels institutions that emerged in majority-white societies as racist and ‘white supremacist.’ Like Marxism, CRT advocates for the destruction of institutions, such as the Western justice systems, free-market economy, and orthodox religions, while demanding that they be replaced with institutions compliant with the theory’s ideology.”
Republican lawmakers sent a signed letter to active Secretary of the Air Force John P. Roth and Chief of Space Operations General John W. Raymond requesting the reinstatement of former Space Force Commander Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier. Lohmeier was relieved of his duties after publicly speaking out against critical race theory training in the U.S. military. The letter cited several instances of highly politicized speech made by in-uniform senior leaders and service members, none of whom received the same disciplinary action as Lohmeier.
The letter states, “[T]here seems to be no material difference between the very public statements made by many senior leaders while in uniform or on official social media accounts, and those made by Lieutenant Colonel Lohmeier in an unofficial capacity. The sole difference seems to be the ideological content of his remarks.”
The letter continues, “We further note that euphemisms like “diversity training” used to describe critical race theory are grotesque distortions of reality. [CRT] is, in fact, a school of thought ultimately and explicitly derived from Marxism … Why would we expect our nation’s young men and women to join the Space Force to fight, and possibly die, on behalf of a systemically racist country? ‘Why should they fight for a country we say is racist?’ is a question our flag officers should be asking themselves if they believe critical race theory is true.”
During a podcast interview to promote his new book, Lohmeier said, “I’ll make it clear, I don’t care what the politics of my service members are. They can be Democrats, Republicans; it doesn’t matter to me. I have my own views, I respect their views, [and] they are welcome to participate in the political process. But when senior leaders begin to politicize the institution itself, that’s not what the American people expect, and that’s not our obligation.”
In the reinstatement letter, members of Congress affirmed that “[n]ow is a time for choosing: those leaders who are complicit with this poisonous philosophy which promotes racial essentialism and collective guilt in our beloved military will be judged by history accordingly.” {eoa}
