Missing Craig Strickland’s Wife Uses Bible Verse to Fuel Her Hope
While storms left many stranded over Christmas weekend, Helen Wisner Strickland lost something much more valuable; her husband, country singer Craig Strickland, disappeared on Dec. 27.
Strickland and pal Chase Morland went duck hunting early Sunday morning when they disappeared. Morland was later found dead.
Though Strickland is still missing, his wife is finding comfort in the Psalms: “‘You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.’ – Psalm 56:8”
Strickland is the lead singer of Backroad Anthem. The country group has taken to social media to ask for prayers for his safe recovery.
“For those of you who don’t know Craig he is the most passionate person that we know! He is on fire for God, his Wife, his family, his life, and this band,” the group posted on Facebook.
“Craig is by far the best communicator that we have ever seen. His passion for music and the stage are what many times have kept us going miles and miles down the road. We want Yall our fans, friends, and loved ones to know Craig is an amazing person, husband, son, bandmate, and most certainly best friend. As we continue to pray today for his safe return home admire this picture and know the God he serves we serve can do anything even as small as some would think in painting this sunset for all to see today. We love you we thank you for being so kind and generous in your words, thoughts, and prayers. This picture is perfect let the music warm our hearts today.”
According to People, Strickland’s dog, who was on the trip, was found earlier this week. Bandmates told the magazine the dog being found alive “is a very good sign.”
Since Strickland’s disappearance, prayer services and hashtags sprouted up in support of finding the missing singer.
Twitter hashtags such as #prayersforcraig and #prayforcraig have turned social media into a prayer machine.
One fan tweeted: “Still praying for @BackroadCRAIG & @HelenWisner. Hoping for his safety. #PrayForCraig”
Another: “I’ve never met these guys, but I want y’all to know you’re in our hearts! Sending #prayersforCraig @BackroadAnthem”
