Morris Cerullo Investing $125 Million to Transport You to Biblical Times
World-renowned televangelist Morris Cerullo brought the gospel to the darkest corners of the globe, but now he’s taking a unique approach by way of bringing people to the Good News rather than vice versa.
Cerullo is behind a Bible-themed resort to be built in San Diego, according to The Los Angeles Times.
The Times reports the $125 million project will spread across 18 acres of the foreclosed Mission Valley Hotel. It could draw up to 400,000 visitors each year.
The Christian-themed resort will transport them to biblical times—with underground passages reminiscent of Rome and a domed theater outfitted with full-motion seats and sensory effects simulating wind, snow and fog, according to the Times.
“This idea of themed entertainment is going to start reaching into … museums, the waterfront,” Jim Penner, executive director of the Morris Cerullo Legacy Center, told the Times. “It’s a business model. It’s just based around religious themes rather than secular themes.”
Cerullo’s ministry awaits City Council approval, but Fox 5 reports the organization hopes to break ground later this year and open for reservations in 2018.
