MSNBC Host: Jesus Was Fine with Abortion
In a tirade based on a severe lack of understanding about the Bible, Joe Scarborough, co-anchor of “Morning Joe” on MSNBC, declared with no uncertainty that pro-life Christians do not know the Bible.
In another misinformed rant, Scarborough decried pro-lifers and insisted he knew the Bible but they did not. His potent wrath was stirred by the fact that the state of South Carolina is considering a near total ban on abortions, which failed to pass in the Senate.
He backed up his biblical knowledge by saying, “As a Southern Baptist, I grew up reading the Bible—maybe a backslidin’ Baptist but I still know the Bible—Jesus never once talked about abortion. Never once, and it was happening back in ancient times. It was happening during His time. [He] never once mentioned it.”
In a fit of irony, Mr. Scarborough explained how misguided pro-life Christians can see things from his point of view, “Why don’t you do something you haven’t done in a long time?” he challenged, “Open the Bible, open the New Testament, read the red letters. You won’t see it there!
“And yet, there are people who are using Jesus as a shield to make 10-year-old raped girls go through a living and breathing hell here on earth,” he continued.
If only Joe had read Matthew chapter 18, the red letters specifically, he would see how much Jesus values the life of a child.
The diatribe on “Morning Joe” continues the plan that MSNBC appears to have in declaring who Jesus is and what He believed.
In April 2022, Matthew Dowd, former Bush-Cheney campaign advisor and failed candidate for Lt. Governor of Texas, declared if Jesus was alive today, He would be called a “groomer”:
“This is something that I have tried to talk about: Being a Christian, having grown up Catholic, having been an altar boy and all of that—how the faith has been captured by a small segment of our society who have tried to define it in a way that Jesus never had defined it, and actually the opposite way of Jesus,” Dowd claimed.
“The entire message of the gospels of the Easter holidays was love one another. And I have said this before, and I’ll say it again: If Jesus Christ was alive today, He would be called a groomer, He would be called woke and He would be called a socialist if He was alive today,” he added.
“If He was speaking the message, He spoke in the gospels today about treating everybody with dignity—Jesus Christ hung around with prostitutes and tax collectors. He was nailed to a cross because He spoke on behalf of the most marginalized people in the Middle East,” Dowd said.
What stands out from both of these claims, on-air on MSNBC, is that they are accusing those who do not agree with them as “corrupting” the Bible and its message. Yet, their demands are not to treat everyone with dignity, which many Christians do, but to validate lifestyles that Christians believe to be displeasing to the Lord. This is expressly unbiblical, and if commentators were to read the entire Word of God instead of cherry-picking certain parts to fit their narrative and agenda, they would see just how off-base their claims truly are.
After all, Joe Scarborough admitted he was backslidden, so perhaps Christians should lift him up in prayer so that he will return to the loving embrace of God. {eoa}
