The 50 Venezuelan illegal immigrants Florida governor Ron DeSantis sent to Martha’s Vineyard arrived Wednesday and it has been nothing short of a political firestorm. Politicians on both sides of the aisle have been forthright on their take of the busload of immigrants.

Massachusetts governor Charlie Baker announces Friday that he is deploying 125 National Guard members to the island. “Our administration has been working across state government to develop a plan to ensure these individuals will have access to the services they need going forward, and Joint Base Cape Cod is well equipped to serve these needs,” Baker says.

Those on the left are vocalizing their jump to action after the migrants arrived. State Rep. Dylan Fernandes posted a photo to his Twitter account displaying a room filled with empty beds. “Our island jumped into action,” he says. Fernandes continued to say, “We are a community that comes together to support immigrants.”

Not everyone found his post helpful. Texas Senator Ted Cruz rebutted saying, “Now try 4.2 million.” In a viral video, Lisa Belcastro the coordinator for Martha’s Vineyard homeless shelter had an array of emotions about what was happening on her island.

“At some point in time they have to move somewhere else…We cannot, we don’t have the services to take care of 50 immigrants,” Belcastro says.

In a press conference Friday, DeSantis calls out the Biden Administration for their lack of concern over the extensive immigration issue in America today.

“He didn’t scramble to get his cabinet together when we had millions of people illegally pouring across the southern border,” DeSantis said. Republican governors are outraged over what they believe to be a political attack. Fentanyl has poured across the border killing 154 American every day, migrants have been locked and left in hot busses to die and now politicians are wondering why Biden didn’t care to speak up then.

Texas governor Greg Abbott sent two buses full of migrants to Vice President Kamala Harris’ residence at the United States Naval Observatory Thursday morning. Abbott calls out Harris for never even visiting the border to see the impact of her policies, yet claiming it is ‘secure.’

“This busing strategy is part of the state’s ongoing response to President Biden’s reckless border policies that are overwhelming border communities in Texas,” Abbott says.

The 50 migrants now being taken to Joint Base Cape Cod will be housed in dormitory-style spaces, given clothes, hygiene kits, nutrition, health care, mental care and crisis counseling. {eoa}
