Persecuted, Imprisoned Pastor’s Wife Asks Obama to Step Up
American Pastor Saeed Abedini’s wife, Naghmeh, is speaking out about being severely disappointed in the U.S. government’s lack of reaction to Iran’s escalation of its human rights abuses against her husband, a U.S. citizen.
Iranian authorities have recently thrown Pastor Saeed into solitary confinement. It is the second time he has been held in solitary confinement in Evin Prison, the first occurring immediately following his arrest. Based on his first time in solitary confinement, Pastor Saeed told family members that days felt like years. His health continues to worsen, with new reports he is now experiencing kidney problems in addition to internal bleeding that has gone untreated for months.
Naghmeh Abedini recently appeared on Fox News to discuss the latest developments in her husband’s fate.
“I can’t image one more day in that. From what I heard from him, solitary is horrific,” she explained. She continued, “It’s a small dark hole.”
While Iran has escalated their abuse, Naghmeh Abedini is concerned that the U.S. government is still not fully engaging.
