Reports: Josh Duggar’s Information Released in Ashley Madison Dump
Josh Duggar’s information was among data released by those who hacked Ashley Madison earlier this summer, reports say.
Duggar has since confirmed he was a member of the site.
According to Gawker, Duggar’s credit card information was on file with the site, and he had purchased two different subscriptions with the website.
Their report links Duggar’s name and credit card with an address in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and later to his home in Maryland.
The leaked information shows Duggar’s account was set to seeking an “affair guarantee,” for which he paid an additional $250.
“I’m sure there are millions of Ashley Madison users who wish it weren’t so, but there is every indication this dump is the real deal,” security researcher Brian Krebs writes.
The second subscription was cancelled in May, when Duggar admitting to molesting five minors. The sexual abuse incident rocked the Duggar family, and saw the cancellation of their TLC show, 19 Kids and Counting.
After Duggar admitted to the allegations, his wife, Anna, told People, she had been aware of the incidents.
“I was surprised at his openness and humility and at the same time didn’t know why he was sharing it. For Josh, he wanted not just me but my parents to know who he really was—even very difficult past mistakes.”
She told the magazine, however, she was confident Duggar had changed his life since then.
The couple have four children, including new addition Meredith Grace.
Duggar’s information is among 37 million names released by hackers, The New York Times reports.
Ashley Madison bills itself as “an online personals and dating destination for casual encounters, married dating, discreet encounters and extramarital affairs,” Charisma News previously reported.
When the site was breached earlier this summer, evangelist Franklin Graham released the following statement:
“I have news for all those worried cheaters out there wringing their hands—God already knew! His holy Word says, ‘Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account’ (Heb. 4:13),” Graham says. “Times may have changed, but God’s laws and standards never change—all sin has a price. The New York Daily News calls this an ‘#adultery website.’ Isn’t it a shame that immorality is such big business?”
Charisma News will update this story as more details are released.
