Two students were killed and three others were injured during a high school shooting in Southern California today. Two of the injured are in critical condition.

The gunman shot to death a 14-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl.

The shooting was reported early Thursday morning at Saugus High School near Los Angeles. The 16-year-old suspect reportedly shot himself and is now in a nearby hospital for treatment, according to police. They believe he is a part of the student body.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department tweeted earlier today that the suspect they were looking for was a “male Asian” wearing black clothing.

The shooting began about 20 minutes before school was to officially begin. News footage shows students streaming out of the building to safety.

Student Sharon Orelana Cordova tells NBC Los Angeles that she was doing her homework when she saw people running. She quickly joined them.

“When I got out, I saw this person lying down on the ground, and I saw blood all over,” Cordova says. “It was really scary. I was really, really scared. I didn’t know what was going on.”

The Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital tweeted that the hospital received four patients: three male and one female. The female and two of the males are in critical condition, and one male is in good condition.

Please continue to pray for all those involved in this shooting, especially the injured and the victims’ families.
