Viral Photos of 19-Week-Old ‘Baby Walter’ Rally Pro-Life Movement
Photos of a miscarried baby are making the rounds on the Internet, proving that a child growing in the womb is exactly that—a child.
Baby Walter, the son of Lexi and Joshua Fretz, was miscarried at 19 weeks, an age at which abortion is still legal in many states.
“Just because the child within cannot be seen by us does not mean that it is a blob of cells,” Lexi writes on her blog. “Walter was perfectly formed and very active in the womb. If he had just a few short more weeks he would have had a fighting chance at life. I don’t understand why the Lord took him home, but I have to trust in his perfect timing. I may never know why, but it is a comfort to know where he is and that I will see him again. For now, he’s with his heavenly father who loves him unmeasurably more then (sic) I, as his earthly mother ever could.”
In an album posted on Facebook and her blog, Lexi shared pictures of her precious baby boy, counting all 10 fingers and all 10 toes.
The goal in posting the photos, Lexi writes, wasn’t to gather attention or launch a social media campaign.
“I shared these photos so my friends and family could see my perfect child,” she writes of what’s now become a pro-life rallying call. “I never, ever could have imagined that it would spread across the world like this.”
But Lexi can see the bright side, even in the midst of her pain.
“In all our hurt, I am glad that some good can come out of this,” she writes. “I pray that the Lord will continue to use Walter’s photos to impact many.”
