Apostolic leader and pastor Rick Seaward, whose Singaporean congregation has planted thousands of churches around the globe, has died in Brazil. The details of his death have yet to come to light, but his family and his church, Victory Family Centre, are grieving his passing, reportedly from a car accident.

Born in Singapore, Seaward was apostolic overseer at Victory Family Centre, a megachurch he founded there in 1977. His son, Jeremy, is now lead pastor at the church.

Seaward believed in the power of miracles in missions. Miracles “really changed the whole paradigm of missions for us here in Singapore,” he said in a 2016 G12 Asia interview.

Pastors and ministry leaders around the globe are saddened by his unexpected death. Rob Hoskins, founder of One Hope, reflected on pastor Seaward’s life.

“Heart breaking to hear of the passing of Pastor Rick Seaward last night in Brazil,” Hoskins posted on Facebook. “Our prayers go out to the entire Seaward family and the Victory Family in Singapore and around the world.”

Seaward is survived by his wife Diane and sons Jonathan and Jeremy. Pastor Jeremy Seaward continues his father’s work as Senior Pastor of VFC Singapore.
