Did Crocodiles Really Devour a Pastor Who Attempted to Walk on Water?
No, crocodiles did not devour a pastor who attempted to walk on water, despite multiple reports otherwise.
Articles circulated early in the week that three crocodiles chomped up pastor Jonathan Mthethwa of Saint of the Last Days Church a week after he preached on having faith.
Deacon Nkosi, a church member, reportedly said, “They finished him in a couple of minutes. All that was left of him when they finished eating him is a pair of sandals and his underwear floating above the water.”
Emergency crews reportedly rushed to the scene, but it was too late.
Except it’s all fake.
There is no record of Saint of the Last Days Church in Zimbabwe or otherwise. There is no record of a pastor Mthethwa.
There’s more evidence too. Mashable reports:
Besides the fact that the river in question is called “Crocodile River” (LOL) and that there’s (suspiciously) another pastor-walks-on-the-water-like-Jesus-gets-eaten-by-crocodiles story from 2016, a quick search on Google reveals that the story was originally published on a satirical website in February.
