A woman gathers water from a World Vision project in Rwanda.

How This Faith-Based Organization Changed an Entire Village

Two to 12 hours. On average, that’s how far a woman or child has to walk to reach water for their family in Rwanda.

Often, it’s hiking down slippery, mud-soaked ledges to a contaminated water source.

Sickness and disease about. Children can’t bathe, so they don’t go to school.

But life changed in one village outside Huye, Rwanda, when faith-based organization World Vision stepped in.

Mary is the village matriarch. Though she has no children of her own, she’s the president of the local water projects and leads the women in her village. Now that she’s in her 50s, Mary has seen atrocities we can’t imagine—and also beautiful restoration.

Listen closely as Mary shares, through a translator, how her life changed for the better when World Vision stepped into the picture.
