Hungary Affirms Personhood Rights of Preborn
A new Hungarian constitution will be adopted by super-majority today. This new constitution is being coined as “a constitution for the 21st Century” and protects the dignity of every human person. It will take effect January 1, 2012.
Article 2 of the new constitution states: “Human dignity is inviolable. Everyone has the right to life and human dignity; the life of a foetus will be protected from conception.”
Article 3 of the constitution goes further in protecting the personhood rights of all humans by protecting humans from trafficking, medical experimentation and human cloning.
“Personhood USA applauds the new constitution of Hungary. Their ’21st century constitution’ is an example to the entire EU and to us here in the USA,” states Keith Mason, co-founder of Personhood USA.
In 2009, Personhood USA teamed with the San Jose-based prolife group Live Action to educate and advocated for a similarly principled Constitution in the Dominican Republic. The new DR constitution was approved and the right to life is protected for all humans who live there.
“As civilization ended the horrific practice of slavery in preparation of the 20th century, to be pro-human and pro-life every society must recognize the God given right to life of every human,” continues Mason. “We must fight aggressively and boldly to protect every human as a person with dignity.”
