Martyred Priest Declared, “Be Gone, Satan!” Before ISIS Slayed Him
Islamic radicals aimed the knife at the elderly priest’s throat, attempting to silence the man of God. By the end of the attack, the jihadists achieved their mission, but not before Jacques Hamel rebuked the devils inside them.
“Be gone, Satan,” uttered the priest with his last breath, according to a translation of his eulogy.
Hamel was the only fatality during an Islamic State attack on his French church. Four others were held hostage.
Emily Fuentes of Open Doors USA says, “Some attackers came and held the people hostage and eventually ended up attacking and slaying the priest who was there, with a knife.”
During Hamel’s funeral, Archbishop Dominique Lebrun publicly rebuked anyone tempted by the evils of jihad.
“You who are tormented by diabolical violence, you who are drawn to kill by a demonic, murderous madness, pray to God to free you from the devil’s grip,” he said. “We pray for you, we pray to Jesus who healed all those who were under the power of evil.”
The Islamic State has recently turned to social media to recruit sympathizers in the West.
