World Race Missionaries Set for July 2 Launch

Share:

takeactionbibleWorld changers are heading out July 2 on the next World Race Mission trip —and they are taking the Thomas Nelson Take Action Bible with them as they travel to 11 countries in the next 11 months.

The World Race is sort of a cross between the TV show Amazing Race, and The Peace Corps. Volunteers pay their own way to travel the world doing mission work.

World Race targets mission-minded believers that are dissatisfied with the status quote and are actively rising to the challenge of seeing the world transformed through tangible expressions of God’s love.

“The big picture is to be His will and to mobilize a generation to bring His kingdom,” says World Race Organizer Weston Belkot. “We want to do whatever it takes: preaching the gospel, laying hands on the sick. It’s not just about the 11 months. It’s 11 months of transformation for the racer and everyone they encounter, along with their family and friends.”

As Thomas Nelson sees it, the world desperately needs inspiration and every believer is a conduit for change. The company’s Bible Group in Nashville donated 180 Take Action Bibles to the World Race and will make a donation to World Vision, a global ministry to help children, for every Thomas Nelson Bible sold at a Christian retail store in the next year. The company expects to give at least $350,000 through its “Buy a Bible, Help a Child” campaign.

“We believe strongly in following His path of light as we fight against the darkness,” says Gary Davidson, Thomas Nelson vice president and Bible Group Publisher. “We want to encourage everyone to make a difference, to take an action in Jesus’ name, whether big or small.”
