Eric Fromm

Is There an Atheist Leader in Your Youth Group Right Now?

Eric Fromm could be the poster child for the rise of the “Nones”—the 48 percent of Millennials who have walked away from their faith.

Fromm has become famous over the past week for his announcement that he is an atheist—and has been one for some time—even though he’s the student body president at a Christian university in Oregon.

He is like so many other young people today who grow up in church but never have a personal knowledge of Jesus Christ. Instead, they see Christianity as a bunch of good traditions and moral stories but nothing more.

Fromm says going to church “was an empty ritual” he participated in so he could see friends. Furthermore, “Scripture was largely mythological, and Jesus was a great moral teacher, but he wasn’t God.”

How many of the young people you see in church every Sunday or at youth group every Wednesday are just like Eric Fromm? They are questioning their faith, wondering if God is real, feeling guilty because they’ve bought into the lie that Christianity is intolerant and the highest virtue of all is tolerance?

It’s time for us, the body of Christ, to step up. We can do it. Let’s all join together to pray for those in this young generation on the brink of losing their faith. Let’s do something to rescue them!

I’ve been training once again for the Dallas marathon this year, on Dec. 8. There are 26 million teenagers in America and 26 miles in a marathon. I’m asking you to join me in the run, physically if you want to, but at the very least join me as I embark on this journey to pray for and reach these 26 million teenagers in America.

You can fly to Dallas and be part of the event by running alongside me or by getting a relay team together and getting sponsors if you want. If you’re an alumnus of the Honor Academy, or just a friend of Teen Mania, we really want you to be involved and pray for these 26 million teens.

invite you to become a sponsor. If you sponsor $30 per mile, that’s 5 kids per mile, or 130 kids by the end of the race that you’ve helped reach with the gospel.

Check out my video laying out the powerful reasons we have to act now to rescue this generation and empower them for the race of life!
