John Kilpatrick: We’re in a Battle With Jezebel for the Soul of This Nation
If there were ever a time the church needed to rise up and do spiritual warfare for our nation, it’s now. A month ago, a friend of mine—pastor John Kilpatrick—prophesied about witchcraft being unleashed against President Donald Trump. While preaching to his own flock Sunday morning, Aug. 19, he said the spirit of Jezebel is set to rise up against Trump. That treacherous spirit, he prophesied, seeks to undermine and even reverse any decisions Trump makes in favor of Judeo-Christian values.
As I mentioned in a previous Strang Report, Kilpatrick’s video went viral, and I had an opportunity to interview him about how he thinks the church must respond in this hour. This is not a time to rest, he told me. This is a time to pray and allow the Holy Spirit to fill us afresh.
“This is not just a political battle,” he said in our interview. “This is a battle for the soul of this nation.”
In my estimation, Kilpatrick is a man of great discernment. He was involved in the Brownsville revival in Pensacola in the early 1990s and now pastors Church of His Presence in Daphne, Alabama. He is well-acquainted with the Holy Spirit, and I believe his encouragement to the church is timely.
I also believe his word to the church is prophetic. Only two days after his original message on Jezebel, two very significant things happened. First, Paul Manafort—Trump’s former campaign manager—was found guilty on several charges. As I’ve analyzed that situation, I’ve come to realize that these illegal actions happened long before the election and are things businessmen are usually slapped on the wrist for when caught. But because Manafort worked for Trump, the court is throwing the book at him.
The second thing that occurred was Michael Cohen’s plea bargain. Cohen admitted to arranging payments to women during the 2016 campaign to keep them from speaking out about affairs they say they had with Trump. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that only a couple days after this spirit of Jezebel was unleashed, these two big legal challenges reared their heads.
The very fact that Kilpatrick’s video went viral is evidence that it resonated with the people of God across the U.S. The church knows there’s something seriously wrong and that believers must rise up and pray.
I believe Kilpatrick’s message is so important for the body of Christ that I actually inserted two pages about it in my new book, Trump Aftershock, during the final stages of editing. In Trump Aftershock, I write about the effects Trump has had on the nation since he was elected into office. Although my book is in no way a puff piece, I don’t overlook the way God has used Trump as president for His glory.
The bottom line—and I point this out both in my book and in the cover story of Charisma‘s November issue—is that this is not a struggle between Democrat and Republican. It’s not even a struggle between left and right. It’s not even really a struggle between globalism and nationalism. It’s actually a spiritual struggle.
But to understand that, you must be spiritually discerning; you have to understand the Word of God. Your spirit has to be renewed to comprehend these things because this message is foolishness to those who don’t believe. We may not be able to see the spiritual realm and the wars waged there, but that place is more real and important than the physical realm around us.
Trump Aftershock, which releases Nov. 6, goes into the spiritual implications of a lot of what’s going on in the political arena. I believe Christians need to intercede in this hour—not to protect the career of one politician but to fight for the soul of our nation. And I hope this book inspires people to do just that.
