Prophetic Word: May Is a Month of Opportunity in Christ
For the past few months, while administering prophetic words to people, I have noticed that God has been speaking rather specifically about the month of May. When I notice a trend, or emerging theme, in my personal prophecies—particularly if several people are being asked by God to direct their attention to something specific—I know that this is a clue that God may be speaking corporately to the body of Christ.
The Holy Spirit is speaking and saying that May will be a particularly significant month for us to advance His purposes and experience breakthrough.
What Does the Word ‘May’ Mean?
I looked up the definition of the word “may.” Here are some of its various definitions: 1. To express possibility; 2. To express opportunity or permission; 3. To express wish or prayer.
God is saying that May will be a month of possibility, opportunity and prayer. In fact, what the Lord said to me was that the month of May would be a time for us to yield to His voice. God told me that He would do what seemed to be the impossible in people’s lives as they yield to Him. For this season starting in May, prayer and meditation will be so significant because this will be a time that God gives us strategic plans on how we can advance forward in Him.
A Month of Possibility
May will be a month of possibility. If we can only believe, God will deliver us of our distresses and manifest His glory. An example of this is in Mark 9:16-29. A man was distressed because his son was demonized and needed deliverance. When Jesus met the man, He asked him a question: “‘How long has it been since it came to him?’ He said, ‘From childhood. Often it has thrown him into the fire and into the water to kill him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.’ Jesus said, ‘If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes‘” (Mark 9:21-23, emphasis mine). God is saying this is a season to ask Him for big things, things we may think are impossible—especially in the area of healing and deliverance.
Perhaps you are standing in faith for your healing or the healing of a loved one. According to this Scripture in Mark 9:16-29, like the father who was believing for his son to be delivered, we can actually stand in proxy for a loved one who needs deliverance by seeking the Lord and praying using the name of Jesus. Praying in faith and believing will bring Christ’s healing glory.
When Jesus rhetorically replied, “If you can?” He was making a profound point that we must understand as it relates to prayer. The healing of the demonized boy was not contingent upon whether Jesus could heal or even wanted to heal him, because Jesus’ desire is always to heal. Whether or not the boy received delivered was contingent upon his father’s prayer of faith because Jesus said “All things are possible to him who believes.” For us to apprehend everything that God wants to give us, we must abolish all the ifs and receive the promises of God, recognizing that all things are possible to us when we believe. All the promises of God are “yes” and “amen” (2 Cor. 1:20).
A Month of Opportunity/Permission
The month of May will be a month of opportunity. God will allow us to access doors of breakthrough that have not been accessible before. God also wants us to recognize that, in this season, He is giving us leverage in the spirit realm to be bold and ask Him for big things. God is giving us permission to ask Him to do things that in our flesh we might be almost scared to ask Him for. However, this is a season of opportunity, so God wants us to ask Him to do things that are so big that there is no way they can come to pass except by His glorious power. God wants to demonstrate His glory in our lives in such a big way that we will be amazed!
God is giving you permission to be bold in your prayers. An example of opportunity is the story of the centurion’s servant mentioned in Matthew 8:5-13. The centurion’s servant was paralyzed. And yet, he was bold enough to ask Jesus to heal his servant so that his servant could have the re-establishment of his limbs. Because this servant was paralyzed, we know that he had a permanent physical condition that was so severe he couldn’t walk. And yet, the centurion was bold enough to ask Jesus to heal his servant.
Jesus immediately responded back by saying, “I will heal him.” This is very significant because it shows us the character of God. He wants to heal us from even the most severe conditions. Jesus wasn’t offended when the centurion asked Him for something as bold as a creative miracle. In contrast, Jesus responded immediately with a yes, saying, “Should I come and heal him?” (Matt. 8:7).
The centurion, understanding that he was faced with his moment of opportunity to have his big and bold prayer answered, said this: “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But speak the word only, and my servant will be healed” (Matt. 8:8).
This Scripture is so powerful because it demonstrates that our Lord will answer our prayers on our faith—believing that He will do what He has promised. The centurion’s pure faith in Jesus’ ability to heal his servant through the spoken word of God was so strong that Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith, no, not in Israel” (Matt. 8:10b).
God is saying to us now: “Only believe My word and I will open up opportunities to you that you would have never thought would be open to you. Yet, I am bringing them to you as you trust and believe in My word.”
A Month of Prayer
Prayer will take us into a new manifestation of power in this season. The Lord says that He is removing the blinders from off of our minds and giving us more hope and expectancy when we pray. The Lord is saying, starting in May onward:
“I’m going to cause you to open your hearts and expect more. For in your expectancy you will access the things that you so desire. Recognize that I am not resisting the fulfillment of your prayers. You are resisting them because you do not really believe I will do what I’ve promised you. I will contend with this issue and break this spirit of Antichrist so that My people can truly believe Me in Spirit and in Truth,” says God.
What is it that you need from Him? Pray and ask of Him what you need and you will receive what you ask. God is not resisting your prayers. He wants to give you the desires of your heart. Only believe.
May Also Means ‘Yielding’
Another understanding of the word “may” is to yield. Yielding is when we submit ourselves to Him for His purpose—regardless of how convenient (or inconvenient) it is. In order for us to truly be used by God, we must be willing to yield unto the Lord. God wants us in this season to yield to Him so that He can do great and awesome things in our lives. Part of this yielding will require us to spend daily fellowship with Him so that we can receive instruction on what He wants to do in our lives. As we receive our daily download from His Spirit, we can be sure that we will succeed in everything that we do because we are acknowledging Him in all our ways as He directs our paths (Prov. 3:6).
May Is a Month of Grace
Finally, May is the fifth month. Five symbolizes grace. Starting this May, God will begin to load us up with more of His grace. Grace is so significant because grace is God’s supernatural ability that enables us to do His will. Therefore, we never have to be fearful as to whether we have what it takes to be used by God because He is confirming to us that He is giving us more of His grace to accomplish big things.
Apostle Paul was in a situation where he was endeavoring to be used by God. However, every time Paul tried to move forward, he experienced the presence of demonic forces that tried to oppose him. The whole situation began to bother him, so he inquired of the Lord, asking Him to remove the demonic obstacles. In this instance the Lord said to Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Cor. 12:9).
God was saying to Paul that he had enough grace power to deal with any situation that tried to oppose him. And God is saying to us that, starting this May, if we will yield to Him, He will load us up with so much of His grace that we will be able to supernaturally deal with any issue or circumstance that tries to oppose us. In Christ, we cannot fail! Allow Him to fill you with His grace so that you can succeed in every situation in life!
A Dream That Brings Clarity to this Prophecy
Recently I had a dream where I was in a forest. While in the forest, I saw a little girl who was playing soccer. The little girl was the daughter of the prophet that hosted me during my crusade in Africa. In the dream, while playing soccer, the ball the little girl was playing with was kicked past her and the little girl could not find the ball. I had this burden in me to find the ball. I became anxious because it was beginning to get dark and hard to see in the forest. Finally I found the ball beside a creek. I became joyful because I found the ball for the little girl.
When I woke up from the dream it left such an impression on my soul that I could not shake it. Having only a partial interpretation of the dream, I called my prophet friend, Charles. Sometimes people’s names are significant to the interpretation of a dream, so I asked Prophet Charles what his daughter’s name was, and he said, “Iswella.” So, I then asked, “What does the name ‘Iswella’ mean?” He said, “All is well.”
Interpretation: You Will Receive Grace to Access Everything God Has for You and All Will Be Well! In this dream I was in a forest, which, in the context of the dream, meant I was looking for direction. The ball is what’s used to play soccer, but the ball became lost. God was saying to me that I was becoming anxious that the things that I am concerned about may be “passing me by” and will become lost. However, I was not to worry because He would allow me to locate everything and “all would be well.” Interestingly, Iswella is 5 years old. So God was also saying that I would have grace to locate what concerns me.
I truly feel that God is also saying this to you as well. God will make sure that nothing He has for you will be lost or will pass you by. You will receive the grace needed to access everything God has for you and all will be well! Hallelujah!
A Prayer to Receive the Manifestation of this Prophetic Word
If you would like to experience all of these promises that God has given us for the month of May, I would like you to pray this prayer out loud:
Dear Lord,
“I receive this prophetic word for the month of May. Because I receive this prophetic word, I know that I will prosper. I ask Lord that You fill me with more and more of Your grace. I decree and declare that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is residing within me and I am filled with Your grace to do awesome things for You. I will pray big, bold prayers in Jesus’ name. Amen!” {eoa}
