Discipline Comes Before Deliverance
America is well on its way to learning a truth that can be learned in no other way: that there is no safety in distance from God. It is painful work for a nation or an individual to get in step with God and to keep pace with Him, as Oswald Chambers noted, because that means you must conform your life to God’s character and priorities.
“A nation’s exaltation depends upon its piety and ethics, not on its political, military and/or economic greatness.”
—Bruce Waltke
Violation of God’s unending order by disobedient people brings discipline. God’s norm is to supply understanding (discipline) before He allows relief (deliverance). His path for respectable behavior and decency is more important to Him than the absence of pain to those who violate His standards.
But America has decided to take the hard route. The moral posture of a nation is dependent in no small measure on its governmental officials and elected representatives, which brings us to Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. They are a mirror, a reflection, of the moral character, standing and soul of America. For the last three-quarters of a century, God has been systematically removed from public education, higher learning, the media, big business, the Supreme Court, federal courts, and Hollywood. Secularists and the American people who have turned away from God act in accordance with the reality that God is no longer the conscience of the nation.
The appropriate question is not “Can America survive a Hillary Clinton presidency?” Rather, it is, “Can America survive a citizenry that elected lawless Barack Hussein Obama twice, and now a corrupt Hillary Clinton?
If elected, Hillary guarantees to stack the Supreme Court and Federal Courts with godless leftists who will demolish and take America apart brick by brick. Our children and children’s children will pay the price for our sin of apathy and false piety. Our descendants will lose their First Amendment right to “freedom of speech,” their Second Amendment right to “keep and bear arms” and their religious liberty—that is, if they survive the ordeal.
We are guilty; we allowed this on our watch.
Do my words strike you as hyperbole? Hillary Clinton has all but said so in code in a speech before the Women’s World Summit on April 23, 2015: “Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will. And deep-seated religious beliefs have to be changed.”
Of course, in the present political environment leading toward Nov. 8, Hillary will be very careful not to antagonize evangelical and pro-life Catholic Christians so that they don’t come out and vote en masse against her on Election Day.
The current depth of American “Every Day a Friday” Christianity will not likely survive the coming leftist assault on our liberties. In God’s never-ending order, a nation is established by righteousness. Yet the American church remains prayerless. A prayerless church indicates prayerless leaders who cannot recognize “righteousness” and “virtue” as two sentries that guard the nation. The establishment of a just and righteous society—those who regulate the moral thermostat of America—is the primary responsibility of the church.
Dinesh D’Souza spoke at Liberty University last week. Here’s part of his analysis:
“The ‘big fry’ are still at large. The ‘big fry’ never get caught, in fact, the system doesn’t even go after them. Why? Because they run the system. They’re too well-connected in the system. Then my mind went forward to Bill Clinton having his little rendezvous with Loretta Lynch on the tarmac. It went to Obama signaling to his boy James Comey and signaling over to Lynch, ‘Hey, Hillary’s my girl. I’m turning over the baton to Hillary. Lay off Hillary.
“When Hillary became secretary of state, this was a very profitable moment for the Clintons. Why? Well, you can track it: Bill Clinton’s lecture fee went from $150K to $600K—as soon as Hillary became secretary of state. This is to give a 20-minute speech.
“Now you think that people are paying $600K to hear Bill give you the same rubbish that you can listen for free online? No, they’re paying for a speech—it’s kind of a bribe. It’s kind of a down payment for something that the ‘Giver’—and by the way, we’re not talking about American ‘Givers’ only, we’re not just talking about Goldman Sachs, we’re also talking about foreign entities, foreign governments. The ‘Giver’ wants something, and so they pay Bill Clinton to speak—STEP 1.
“STEP 2—Hillary now delivers the ‘something’ that the donor wants. So in a very specific case, there were a group of billionaire Indians who wanted Hillary to change her position and support the Indian nuclear deal. Hillary was against it. But once Bill began to be invited to India, and money began flowing his way, Hillary had a change of heart, she switched her position. She supports the Indian nuclear deal.
“STEP 3—Millions of dollars now flow to the Clinton Foundation: STEP 1, STEP 2, STEP 3, this happens again, and again, and again, and again.”
We need a Gideon or Rahab to make a stand.
