Here’s How Voters Can Make a Proverbs 29 Difference on November 8

On Tuesday, Nov. 8, North Carolina voters will determine which party holds the balance of power in the state’s highest court. This will have major implications from how congressional voting lines are drawn to the ‘constitutional right’ to slay innocent human beings in utero.

Liberals hold a 4-3 majority on the court, but two of their seats are up in 2022. If Republicans win even one, the balance of the court shifts from left-leaning to right-leaning.

If North Carolina Christians stay home on election day, then those in active rebellion against God will get the chance to elect their representatives, who will create and pass legislation representing their values, and so pass into law their system of beliefs.

Modern culture, after all, is just the public manifestation of the 200-year war on American Christendom, culminating in the mid-20th century cultural embrace and accommodation of religious secularism in America’s public square. The sooner evangelical and pro-life Catholic Christians recognize that transient and mutable secularism is vying for ideological supremacy and control of the public square over the eternal and immutable Jehovah God, the greater chance the nation will have to withstand the onslaught by profane secularists and cultural Marxism.

Kenneth T. Aitken, lecturer in Hebrew at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, formulates it thus, “When the wicked are in power and control the affairs of state, violence and injustice are actively encouraged and flourish unchecked (Proverbs 29:16), and the people groan under an intolerable burden of oppression and make themselves scarce for fear of life and limb.”

The opposite situation is described in Proverbs 29:2: “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice,” highlighting the importance of righteous versus wicked leadership and the effect it has upon the citizenry. Hence, if the righteous won’t run … and the righteous won’t vote … how do we get to the point where “the righteous are in authority?”

The irrefutable declaration in Proverbs 14:34 that “righteousness exalts a nation” can be achieved in a democratic republic by organizing and mobilizing like-minded constituents to the voting booth. Since somebody’s values are going to reign supreme in the public square, a massive turnout of Christians on Election Day, Nov. 8, will be an absolute necessity.

Unfortunately, American Christendom seems generally incapable of recognizing the importance of this, let alone how to deal with the denominations of political currency.

For example, the 2022 NC Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting will be held on Monday, Nov. 7, and Tuesday, Nov. 8—Election Day—at the Koury Convention Center, Greensboro, North Carolina.

Like the disciples of Emmaus, these leaders are apparently completely unaware of the fact that the war for the soul of America is between biblical Christianity and the false god of secularism and taking place in the public square. Consequently, the Southern Baptist pastors attending the conference will not be involved in mustering and marshaling God’s flock to the voting booth on Nov. 8, as Christians try to save Western civilization.

What could they do? Have the Salt and Light Committee, or an assistant, call every member of their flock saying, “Pastor wants to know whether you’ll be voting today. To make sure you are, can we send the church van to take you to the polls?”

Many evangelical leaders will need a refresher course in Civics 101 if America is to make it through. Getting one’s congregants to the voting booth will require some smart strategic planning. And from a strategic point of view, taking a trip to the Holy Land two weeks before an election, being away on a Mission Trip on Election Day, and/or calling a statewide conference the day before an election simply doesn’t make much sense. Speechifying is not going to save America.

Of course, much like Saul in the ancient Israel of 1 Samuel 16, the real issue is that America is no longer beholden to God. Yet, man’s extremity is always God’s opportunity; in other words, when times are at their worst, God will soon make them better. The darkest hour is always just before dawn.

In his classic “The Life of David,” A.W. Pink gives Moses under Pharaoh and David under Saul as examples of God’s unending order as the unrecognized shepherds secluded in a humble flock He has been preparing for use.

Pastor Keith Krell in his teaching on the book of Genesis reinforces A.W. Pink’s point that the high favorites of heaven are sometimes to be found in unusual and unexpected places. Many events in the Bible illustrate this concept, such as Joseph in prison, the descendants of Abraham laboring in the brick kilns of Egypt, Daniel in the lions’ den, Jonah in the belly of the great fish and Paul clinging to a spar in the sea.

Pastor Krell notes that Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery to the Midianites, who took Joseph down to Egypt and sold him to Potiphar, the chief executioner in charge of Pharaoh’s KGB. “Now, it was not a coincidence that Joseph ended up in this man’s home; unbeknownst to Joseph, the Lord had sent him to Potiphar’s house to prepare him for the important task that lay ahead, the task of serving as the second highest official in the land of Egypt. But in order for this to happen, Joseph first had to learn the language, culture, business and politics of Egypt.”

A.W. Pink has some more wise counsel to add. When Absalom, the son of King David, revolted and initiated an insurrection against his father, David quickly began to muster and marshal his troops. “Yet let it be duly noted that strong faith did not produce either sloth or carelessness. David acted with diligence and wisdom: marshaling his forces, putting them in good order, dividing them to best advantage and placing them under the command of his most experienced generals.”

In his excellent exegesis of the book of Joshua, A.W. Pink provides the apt advice that “It would indeed be strange if we apprehended how that on the one hand Canaan was a free gift unto Israel, which they entered by grace alone; and on the other that they had to fight for every inch of it!”

When spiritual men and women move into the public square, they will significantly improve the chances of restoring America as the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave.

Praise God that Gideon’s and Rahab’s are beginning to stand. {eoa}
