Transgender Bathroom

What Do You Think the Founders Would Say?

Daniel Horowitz wrote in Conservative Review this week:

“There are times in history when American patriots need to call a time out and bring all hands on deck to deal with a raging fire. We are now living through one of those times.

Imagine if a prophet were to approach Sam Adams before the revolution and warn that in less than 250 years state governors would ban official travel to states that don’t allow men into women’s bathrooms?

Imagine if someone told James Madison, the man who referred to religious conscience as the “most sacred of property,” that individuals would be forced to use their own property and livelihood to service something that violates their consciousness and is condemned by every major religion?”

And for an example of the latest militant, fascist homosexual move, look no further than a story this week from the NBC affiliate in Los Angeles: TRANSGENDER MAN SUES BARBERSHOP FOR DISCRIMINATION

An individual who was born as a woman but now “identifies as a man” walked into a barbershop that caters exclusively to men. They refused to serve the customer, and now are the object of a lawsuit.

America’s problem is spiritual; we must direct our energies toward cultural renewal. The spiritual resurrection of America must begin with a broken and contrite spirit for having allowed secularists to impose a false religion on America. It is we, Christ followers, who must awaken. God, in His patience and perfect wisdom, has been waiting a long time to do something about the collapse of Christian civilization.

God is ready and willing to deliver at the earliest moment when we are ready to exercise faith in Him. But the collapse of the Judeo-Christian heritage and biblically based culture bequeathed to us must be addressed and confessed. We must pay attention to our situation and do something about it.

What do we do? Russell Kirk observed in his book Redeeming the Time: “If a culture is to survive and flourish, it must not be severed from the religious vision out of which it arose.”

God did not leave us without weapons for the resurrection of America: prayer and the tears of the brokenhearted. Are we to believe in God’s willingness and ability to revive us? Do we see in the pages of Scripture that God rewards faith in Him by sending His grace and aid? Yes, indeed. It would be a sad day for believers when dependence upon the Living God brings no helping hand. He is mighty to save.

Our situation is not hopeless, but the solution calls for a muscular faith, unleashing His power in the public square.

The greatest hope for America is not that we will be rich, famous and mighty, but that we will reestablish American Exceptionalism: a virtuous people whose character reflects the character of God.

What now seems like an eternity ago, America’s Founders established Christianity as the official religion within the Constitutions of the original 13 states. Furthermore, American education was rooted in the teachings of the Bible and Christian thought, gleaned from biblical wisdom. Such teaching produced a virtuous Christian culture. As Solomon instructed, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people” (Prov. 14:34).

In his commentary on Isaiah, John N. Oswalt paints a picture of ancient Israel, which is applicable to 21st-century America:

“The uncircumcised are not only among the foreigners; they are also among the circumcised Israelites, because uncleanness is finally a matter of the spirit, not the flesh. Here again it is evident that Israel’s problem, the problem from which the arm of the Lord will deliver them, is much more than Babylonian captivity. If they are to be the people of God, living in the holy city, something must happen to cure them of their rebellion and their uncleanness (Revelation 21:27).

“This is a critical moment in any recovery: the moment when we cease thinking of ourselves as a captive, that is, as a victim, a helpless chip in the current, and begin to realize that God has placed an opportunity before us that we may seize, if we will.”

In Julius Caesar, William Shakespeare penned now famous words about seizing opportunity that history presents to you: “There is a tide in the affairs of men. Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune.”

Power ebbs and flows in time. Secularists have had their way in America for the last three-quarters century or so. Haven’t they done enough? We must not wait around for them to place an additional three to four secularists on the U.S. Supreme Court; handing them a Hillary Clinton victory in November is political and cultural suicide.

If evangelical and pro-life Catholic Christians wait any longer to engage, we will have allowed Barack Obama and the high priests of secularism to fundamentally change America. Instead, this is our opportunity to re-establish the fundamentals of the Founding Fathers and restore their mission. If we refuse to act now, we will be stranded in the miserable shallow waters of pagan secularism for the next half to three-quarters century. President Obama and those doing this to our country must be held accountable.

The spiritual resurrection of America is three words away. Like Lazarus in the grave, Jesus simply says, “Revival, come forth.”

There is no impediment whatsoever to God restoring America to Himself. No third party is involved, it is strictly a matter between Him and His people; “If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chr. 7:14).

To restore a biblically based culture, pastors must re-establish prayer in America’s churches, and then, pastors and pews must rise from the dust and re-engage in the public square.

We need a Gideon or Rahab to make a stand.
