500 World-Renowned Leaders Gather to Bless Jerusalem
More than 500 world-renowned spiritual leaders from over 58 nations gathered in Jerusalem today for the inaugural Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast celebrating the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem.
Oral Roberts University and Empowered21 were well-represented by ORU president and global co-chair of Empowered21, Dr. William Wilson and Ossie Mills, executive director of Empowered21 and vice president of communications and marketing at ORU. Both spoke at the three-day event that was attended by government and Christian leaders, politicians, media and a host of business executives.
“This is a significant convening,” said Reuven Rivlin, President of Israel. “The meeting at the Knesset and here at my residence is important as we long to receive the prayers of Christians for Israel. Doing nothing is doing harm, and I know you will do something. Pray.”
“We are grateful that the Christian world leaders have assembled here in this great city,” Knesset Member and President of the Christian Allies Caucus event organizer, Robert Ilatov, told the assembly. “Your physical presence is symbolic of your spiritual strength and support. Thank you.”
Among the many notables who delivered Scripture readings, prayers and addresses was Michelle Bachman, former United States presidential candidate and senator as well as an ORU alumna.
“In this day of rejoicing, we vow that never again will Jerusalem fall or be divided.” said Bachman. “We are allies because we are firm on the basis of our laws. The law found in the Bible.”
“To see so much support for the nation of Israel and the city of Jerusalem was a blessing,” said Wilson. “This has been a historic and prophetically significant week. I am grateful that ORU and Empowered21 are involved in calling Spirit-empowered believers around the world to intensify their prayers for Jerusalem and the Jewish people.”
Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast Movement calls Christian communities worldwide to stand in the gap to support and pray for Jerusalem. The new Waldorf Astoria in downtown Jerusalem was the site of this amazing gathering which drew scores of government leaders from Israel in a strong show of support for the inclusion of Christian activities in the land.
Other participants in the celebration included Jurgen Buehler, President of ICEJ; Keith Butler, Founding Pastor of Word of Faith International Christian Center near Detroit; Dr. Jim Garlow, Senior Pastor of San Diego’s Skyline Church; Robert Stearns with Eagles’ Wings Ministry and Kevin Grove of Gateway Church in Dallas. Political leaders from Slovenia, Finland, Germany, South Korea, Togo, Australia, Latvia, South Africa, Sweden, Croatia and Ukraine were also in attendance.
The Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast leadership announced that this will be an annual gathering, and they are encouraging believers around the world to participate each year in June. {eoa}
