It’s Time to Take a Stand
The cover of the May issue of Charisma asks an ominous question: “Can Israel Survive?” The answer is a resounding yes. Besides the fact that the Israelis are perhaps the most determined people on the face of the earth, God’s Word says that the Jews are His chosen people, the apple of His eye, and they will survive. But Israel needs us to stand with her more than ever.
Interestingly April 21 is the annual Holocaust Remembrance Day. It’s the day we remember the 6 million Jewish lives that were lost during the Holocaust. One of the reasons we Christians must “stand with Israel” is so nothing like that will never happen again.
We have been reporting on Israel for the last three decades since I first visited Israel in May 1979. Now to keep you informed we are sending out this weekly Standing With Israel e-newsletter. In much of the style of my Strang Report, we will pass along to you interesting information and items of concern relating to Israel and how you can respond.
My colleague Valerie Lowe, who just returned a few weeks ago from her first trip to Israel, will help with the e-newsletter and will share in many issues about some of her experiences in Israel.
I want to point out the item below that I am reprinting with permission from Christians United For Israel which states as succinctly as anything I’ve read the seven reasons why Christians must stand for Israel.
One of the ways we can stand is with our finances. Recently, the readers of Charisma and others have donated approximately $500,000 for charities in Israel as a show of Christian love and an act of solidarity with the Israeli people. We call it our Standing With Israel fund and channel all money through our nonprofit partner, Christian Life Missions, a charter member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability.
You can give to our Standing With Israel fund with certainty that every dollar given is designated to bless Israel. We have done this in a variety of ways including buying an ambulance for Magen David Adom (the Israel equivalent of the American Red Cross) as well as helping victims of war, and most recently helping to build bomb shelters through Operation Lifeshield.
We actually named our e-newsletter after the Standing With Israel fund because it is such an appropriate name. From time to time we will give reports not only on the need in Israel but also the good that your donations make.
To encourage you to give and to bless you for every donation of over $25 given between now and July 1 we will give you a free copy of David Brog’s outstanding book called Standing With Israel. This book articulates better than anything I’ve read the importance of Evangelical Christians standing with Israel. It also helps the reader to understand the history of Christian Zionism and what it means to the Jewish people. You can click here to read more about the book and here to give your donation through Christian Life Missions.
Please leave your comments about our new Standing With Israel e-newsletter. Please also help us build up the circulation by forwarding it to friends. We are sending the first few issues to people who we have reason to believe support Israel as well as readers of my Strang Report.
Thank you for standing with Israel during this very important time and for helping us as we try to mobilize evangelical Christians and others to stand with Israel.
