The Age-Old Key to Accomplishing Big Things

There’s a popular saying—”You can do whatever you put your mind to.” This is only true if you have the mind of Christ. In 1 Corinthians 2:16, Paul reminds us that we have access to the Lord’s thoughts because of that very truth. As a Christ-following businessman and entrepreneur, I desire to improve the world around me by building up kingdom people to realize their full potential. Every person has access to kingdom ideas and systems and strategies. We just need to learn how to get rid of our “stinkin’ thinkin'” and start realizing we can think like Christ.

Jesus didn’t look through the same lens we tend to look through. He didn’t allow worldly circumstances to cloud His vision and keep Him from fulfilling the call on His life. He heard the Lord’s voice. He trusted His relationship with Holy Spirit. And He had the courage and faith to obey.

Many people receive big ideas and think about huge possibilities, but then allow them to fizzle out because their mind shifts back to its normal state, almost as if they “come back to earth.” Every once in a while, they allow themselves to dream. To stick their head in the clouds for a moment. To get a glimpse of heaven’s amazing resources. And then, as their normal cycle resumes, they float back to their home planet with all the problems and circumstances and excuses they’ve become accustomed to. And they fall in line. And wait for another opportunity to dream again.

This cycle is far too normal. I would say it’s an epidemic among the people who should be the most creative, most dynamic and most inventive people in the universe. The sons and daughters of the King of all creation should be using the tools they have at their disposal. Most notably, the mind of Christ.

Jesus is and always has been in the business of exceeding our expectations. He has made a name for Himself when it comes to eclipsing the human possibilities. One of my favorite passages of Scripture is found in Ephesians Chapter three. Verse 20 states, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond all that we ask or imagine, according to the power that works in us.”

Jesus knew that. He believed it. He walked with authority and creative instinct because He knew His Father’s power and ability were within Him. Do you believe that you have the same Spirit of God living inside of you? He’s a Spirit who will give you the power you need to break through human standards. He can give you the courage you need to press through walls of doubt and confusion. And if you are willing to obey, He can give you the faith you desire to stop thinking they way you always have.

If we are truly wanting to follow Christ, we have to change the way we think. He wants to help you go to the next level. You have His permission. You have His blessing. And you have His mind. {eoa}
