What if I Told You an Idol Is Hiding in Plain Sight in Your Life?
When I first dedicated my life to God, I can admit I was pretty messed up and had a ton of spiritual work that needed to be done. If we’re honest, most of us come to the Lord as an absolute mess and in real need of a deep spiritual cleansing. Our character, mindset and priorities must go through a long process of adjustments as we learn and grow in the things of God. However, I learned that there is one major priority in my life that was a massive struggle to adjust and is still in progress today. If we aren’t paying attention, our priorities could become the hidden idols we worship.
God makes it clear throughout the Bible that he is a jealous God and we should have no other gods before him. He commanded his people to always remove, tear down and destroy whatever altars and pillars were dedicated to false gods. As believers, we try our best to do the same in today’s modern world.
But what if I told you that there’s one major idol in particular that’s been hidden in plain sight this entire time, and we never saw it as a threat? What if I told you that that most believers will never reach their full potential and will end up aborting their calling and kingdom assignments because of this idol in their heart? What if I told you that this idol has the ability to pervert spiritual gifts and tear down the most gifted ministers we all know and love?
In Episode 23, Exposing Hidden Idolatry, of Legacy Podcast, I reveal the multiple symptoms of this idol and how it can affect the body of Christ, as well as what we need to do to cleanse that part of our heart. The enemy thrives in our lives when this idol has dominion over our heart. The media and culture of today pushes for us to follow the masses and serve this “master” idol that God has called us to tear down.
So many believers will never walk in the fullness of their kingdom purpose because they refuse to destroy this particular idol they’ve lifted up and built altars to in their heart.
