Why Satan Absolutely Hates It When You Rest
The devil hates it when you rest. He hates it when you are able to sit down in God’s presence and have a meal at the Lord’s table. Your rest is a taunt that is played repeatedly over the loud speaker of hell. We therefore must learn how to rest, even in seasons of resistance.
If you are like me, you want to make the enemy pay for all the harm and havoc he has wrought in the world. I have a righteous desire to pay him back for everything he has done and then some… I also know this: While awareness of the devil’s schemes is good, focus on the devil is very bad. Why? Because putting your eyes squarely on the problem takes them off the promise.
This is the key to staying in rest during seasons of resistance: Keep your eyes off the problem and on the promise. We are to keep our eyes on Jesus so that we can run the race marked out for us with endurance (Heb. 11:1-2). We are not to keep our eyes on sin; we are to keep our eyes on the Son. We are not to keep our eyes on the devil; we are to keep our eyes on our deliverer.
Advancing the kingdom is a matter of offensive “force” according to Jesus in Matthew 11:12. We are to “forcefully” advance and all force requires resistance. Without resistance there can be no force. So while we should expect to be resisted, we can not be deceived into focusing on that resistance and must be wholeheartedly committed to focusing on His victory.
It is a passion of my heart that the church would come into His rest and so I want to equip you with these truths: You can rest during seasons of resistance. It’s not only possible; it’s your inheritance as a child of God.
