Why We Don’t Have to Settle for Death and Lack
The year 2020 started with a plethora of messages about checking your spiritual vision. New Year’s Resolutions full of hope for the year rang out across the world.
Yet, in Wuhan, China, a city unknown to many, a destructive, deadly pandemic virus was exploding. No one knew how rapidly it was growing or how it would soon alter the history of the world.
The warnings from Wuhan were utterly unheard, almost entirely silent. No one gave thought to what seemed like a trivial problem. The attitude was, “If we ignore, it will go away.”
Things deemed more important were unfolding, so no one gave attention to a virus that at the time didn’t appear to matter. The decision to ignore caused many people to become infected and was the catalyst for other catastrophic problems all around the world.
The hellish attack of deaths from COVID-19 along with the pain of economic catastrophe, suicide, child abuse, alcoholism and abortion have all created a year of “great disappointment.”
Our actions are the fruit of our thoughts, our attitudes, our words and our decisions. Our words reveal what is in our heart’s thoughts and attitude. Words are so powerful they change the atmosphere around us and release prophetic power into our futures.
If we want life, happiness and fulfillment, our attitude and words must reflect those things back into our lives. If we are OK with death and lack, our attitude will inevitably determine our actions, and that is what we will have.
In Moses’ last message to the people of God, he tells us to choose life, stating we do have a choice. “I call heaven and earth to witnesses today against you this day, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live” (Deut. 30:19).
Our attitudes, words and decisions will ultimately determine whether we walk in the life and light of Christ or in death separated from Him.
Thoughts set off a chain reaction that develops our attitude, is expressed in our words, becomes the atmosphere for our decisions and is revealed in the fruit of our actions.
Let it be known that in all the disappointment and death that surrounds us, we choose the gift of eternal life. We choose abundant life. We are intentional with our words and actions. We are blessed, and because we are blessed, we bless everyone around us.
You’re beautiful. I see Jesus in you.
