‘I’m In’: Sarah Huckabee Sanders Announces Run for Arkansas Governor
Former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced today that she is running for governor of Arkansas in 2022.
“I’m in,” she shares in a Twitter post that includes a nearly 8-minute video announcing her candidacy. “America is great because we are free, but today, our freedom and the rule of law are under attack,” she says in the video, noting that she was the first White House press secretary to require Secret Service protection because of “a credible, violent threat” against her.
“This is not who we are as Americans” she says of the recent violence coming from both sides of the political spectrum. “Everything we love about America is at stake.”

Sanders seeks to replace current Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson, barred by term limits from running for reelection. She has contributed to Fox News since Sept. 2019, but the news outlet confirmed on Sunday that that arrangement has been terminated.
“Our state needs a leader with the courage to do what’s right—not what’s politically correct or convenient,” Sanders says in her announcement video, noting she’s already taken on the radical left during her tenure as White House press secretary.
Sanders’ father, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who headed the state’s leadership from 1996-2007, was quick to tweet out his support for his daughter:
Today @SarahHuckabee just announced she’s running to be 1st woman Governor of AR. But it’s not about her gender, but a lifetime of preparation. She’s smart & compassionate, but fearless for what’s right. Join the fight! Contribute now! https://t.co/ccQUVFVKf9
