President of the People: President Trump Reassures Hurricane-Ravaged Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico

Share:

Yet another hurricane, the third of the season, has again deeply impacted and devastated Americans and their neighbors.

President Donald Trump is no stranger to weathering storms—literally and figuratively. Since Hurricane Harvey hit Texas and Irma pummeled Florida, Trump has visited ravaged areas three times, dressed in his signature casual windbreaker and “Make America Great Again” cap, helping to hand out food and offering uplifting words of encouragement. To the people of Puerto Rico, now doubly impacted by storms, Trump gave reassurances that help will come swiftly and promised to visit after Hurricane Maria.

This might be a side of Trump many did not know, but it’s no surprise to award-winning writer Stephen E. Strangwho through insightful interviews and firsthand accounts, provides a different look at the nation’s 45th president in the soon-to-be-released book, God and Donald Trump.

In God and Donald Trump, for instance, Strang provides an example of Trump’s knowledge that “to whom much is given, much is expected.”

“February 2, 2017, almost two weeks after being sworn in as president of the United States, Donald Trump spoke to a crowd of 3,500 at the 65th annual National Prayer Breakfast at the Washington Hilton hotel,” Strang wrote. “During his remarks he said, ‘I was blessed to be raised in a churched home. My mother and father taught me that to whom much is given, much is expected. I was sworn in on the very Bible from which my mother would teach us as young children, and that faith lives on in my heart every single day. The people in this room come from many, many backgrounds. You represent so many religions and so many views. But we are all united by our faith in our Creator and our firm knowledge that we are all equal in His eyes. We are not just flesh and bone and blood. We are human beings with souls. Our republic was formed on the basis that freedom is not a gift from government, but that freedom is a gift from God.’

“Referring to the words of Jesus in Luke 12:48, the president was affirming that he understood that his gifts and his good fortune were not an entitlement but a responsibility to use his advantages to bless others,” Strang continued. “This was what his mother had taught him, he said, and it was a principle he had chosen to live by. Whether or not you were for him in the 2016 election, you have to admit that Donald Trump believes in the importance of faith, and he takes his vow to serve the best interests of the American people very seriously.”

Since the hurricanes hit, the president and First Lady Melania Trump have donated $1 million split between 12 different charities that provide relief and recovery efforts, including the American Red Cross, Salvation Army and Samaritan’s Purse, among others.

In God and Donald Trump, Strang reveals the strategies, behind-the-scenes activity and profound voices that helped shape the dramatic events of the election and presidency thus far, as well as shares background into Trump’s life that helps give insight to the man—and president—he is today. Set for release on Nov. 7, almost a year to the day from the presidential election—God and Donald Trump also takes an incisive look at the factors that drove the largest number of conservative and evangelical voters ever recorded to the polls.

A new website and video for God and Donald Trump has been unveiled at www.GodandDonaldTrump.com; view the video here. Visitors to the site can also download a free chapter and preorder the book.

With a foreword from presidential hopeful and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, many are giving early praise for God and Donald Trump, “including Fox News commentator and radio host Todd Starnes, who said, “God and Donald Trump may very well be one of the most important books about the Trump presidency. Steve Strang has delivered a terrific book that cuts through the mainstream media narrative to explore the spiritual life of the 45th president, and in doing so, we get to see the true heart of Donald Trump.”

Stephen E. Strang is an award-winning journalist and successful businessman who began his career as a newspaper reporter at the Orlando Sentinel before founding a Christian publishing house and media company, interviewing and writing about nearly every Christian leader in the country over the past four decades.

God and Donald Trump is published by Frontline, an imprint of Charisma House, which has published books that challenge, encourage, teach and equip Christians, including 13 New York Times best-sellers.
