Evangelical Leaders to Gather in Iowa

Share:

Last year, the Iowa-based Christian pro-family group The FAMiLY LEADER emphasized political engagement as a means to bring about cultural transformation in America.

As a result, a number of the Republican presidential candidates sought the opportunity to speak with a captive evangelical audience. The event soon became notable for Donald Trump’s now-infamous claim that despite being a Christian, he had not sought forgiveness, nor did he feel compelled to do so.

With the GOP presidential nomination process nearly complete, and with the organization’s leader, Bob Vander Plaats, still clearly on the fence about whether or not he will endorse the Republican presidential nominee-in-waiting, the Fifth-Annual Family Leadership Summit will have a new focus. With a theme of “Revival in the Home, Church, and Government,” this year’s speakers will focus more intently on personal and cultural transformation.

“Our nation’s problems are bigger than politics, so we’re turning to God and starting with the church, seeking heart change and culture change,” Vander Plaats said. “We’re urging people to ‘think bigger’ than just the 2016 election, to the kind of cultural transformation that impacts families (and) churches as well as government.”

Confirmed keynote and breakout speakers include Anne Graham Lotz, Dr. Del Tackett of “The Truth Project,” actor T.C. Stallings of the movie War Room, Pastor Steven Khoury of Holy Land Missions in Jerusalem, “America’s Family Coaches” Dr. Gary and Barb Rosberg, and Joe Tewell of Fit for the King.

The Family Leadership Summit will take place Saturday, July 9, at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center at The Iowa Events Center in Des Moines. For more information about the event, visit thefamilyleadershipsummit.org.
