Huckabee Ready to Leave Republican Party Over Same-Sex Marriage
Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor and 2008 Republican presidential candidate, is throwing down the same-sex gauntlet in his party’s back yard. His message to the Republicans: Stand against gay marriage, or I won’t stand with you. Huckabee made his intentions clear during the American Family Association’s Tuesday morning broadcast. He’s clearly frustrated with the party’s response to the Supreme Court’s decision not to rule on the same-sex marriage debate. “If the the Republicans want to lose guys like me and a whole bunch of still God-fearing, Bible-believing people, go ahead and just abdicate on this issue and while you’re at it, go ahead and say abortion doesn’t matter either,” he said. “At that point, you lose me. I’ll become an independent. I’ll start finding people that have guts to stand.”
