Donald Trump Makes Surprise Addition to His Campaign
Just hours before he was set to appear on stage with the other four remaining Republican presidential candidates, front-runner Donald Trump made a shocking announcement.
“I have great respect for Governor Mike Huckabee and we have a mutual admiration for our wonderful families,” he said. “It is great to have his daughter, Sarah, join the campaign.”
Sarah Huckabee Sanders ran her father’s presidential campaign, which ended within the first hours after the Iowa Republican Caucus earlier this month. She said she joined the Trump campaign because “he is a champion of working families, not Washington-Wall Street elites.”
“Like the other Republican candidates, Mr. Trump is pro-life, pro-marriage, and will appoint conservatives to the courts,” she said. “What makes Mr. Trump my choice for president is he will break the grip of the donor class on our government and make it accountable to working families again. I’m honored to help Mr. Trump Make America Great Again.”
Sanders is one of TIME Magazine’s “40 Under 40” and in addition to advising her father’s presidential campaign, she has worked with Fortune 500 companies. Her father, a former Arkansas governor, remains very popular in their home state, which takes part in the “Super Tuesday I” primaries next Tuesday.
