Former Bush EPA Official Endorses Ted Cruz

Republican presidential candidate U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz is piling up the endorsements, and just added another from the ranks of former President George W. Bush’s administration Wednesday.

Alan Steinberg, a former regional administrator for the United States Environmental Protection Agency, is also an adjunct professor at Monmouth University and a regular columnist with New Jersey’s leading political news website, PolitickerNJ.com. He made history by working to restore a delisted Superfund site in New Jersey, the first time a previously delisted site had been restored.

Now he’s endorsing Cruz for president.

“Ted Cruz is the most competent candidate for the Republican presidential nomination on foreign policy issues since Ronald Reagan,” Steinberg said. “Like Reagan, he believes that our foreign policy and international military involvements should be governed by one criterion: the vital interests of the United States. Like Reagan, he rejects the policies of both isolationists and out-of-control interventionists.”

Steinberg, an Orthodox Jew, is the author of American Jewry and Conservative Politics: A New Direction. He previously has served in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General Corps, as a consultant to various corporations and as the senior policy adviser in the New Jersey Assembly Republican Office.

“I am thankful to have the support of Mr. Steinberg,” Cruz said. “He is a public servant with a diverse and impressive background. He is a very capable individual who was trusted to protect the health and livelihood of millions of people. He will be a real asset to our campaign.”
