Super Tuesday State’s Secretary of State Likes Ted Cruz
The grouping of March 1 primaries and caucuses has gone by a number of different names: “SEC Primary,” “Super Duper Tuesday” and “Super Tuesday I.” But whatever you call it, on paper, Ted Cruz is poised to do very well.
And his chances in one of those states just got a little bit better with the endorsement of one of its top elected officials. Arkansas Secretary of State Mark Martin joined the growing list of conservative elected officials to back the Texas senator.
“I am proud to support Ted Cruz for President of the United States,” he said. “It is time for this country to have a proven, courageous and consistent conservative in the White House. This election is critical for our country, and we need someone who will stand up and take the power from Washington and give it back to the American people.”
Martin said Cruz has been on the forefront of fighting for issues important to conservatives, such as repealing Obamacare, reigning in executive overreach by the Obama Administration, defending life and religious liberty, and protecting all of our Constitutional freedoms. He said he is “eager” to help continue the coalescing of conservatives around the Cruz camp.
Martin is now in his second term as Secretary of State, having taken office in 2011. Prior to that, he served three terms in the Arkansas State Senate, where he was viewed as a conservative champion.
“Mark has been a consistent fighter in the state of Arkansas, protecting the liberties of all his constituents,” Cruz said. “During his term as Secretary of State, he has consistently ran (sic) a fiscally conservative state government, working to reign in out of control spending and supporting small businesses in order to grow the economy. I am thrilled to have Mark as part of our team to help bring conservatives together to win the White House in 2016.”
